A total of 5,000 people participated in the first year, which grew to 250,000 the following year, and last year, there were as many as 110,000 participants. "The growth rate is as good as bicycle exports." Moreover, some high school students under 20 participated in the 500-kilometer event four times in a row just to satisfy their craving.

When hearing that a bicycle from the Origin of Taiwan is priced at NT$280,000, I exclaimed on the spot.

The "Taipei International Bicycle Show" kicked off yesterday, and Ma Ying-jeou stated in his opening speech that bicycles are a happy industry. The Taiwan region aims to allow its citizens to ride bicycles anytime and anywhere, and to elevate the scale of the Taipei Bicycle Show from the current second largest in the world to the largest.

Ma Ying-jeou said he is also a bicycle enthusiast, "I have been riding since I was ten years old." He has three bicycles made in Taiwan at home and has participated in triathlons.

He also stated that since taking office, he has been committed to creating an environment suitable for cycling in the Taiwan region, complementing the bicycle industry. In the future, he plans to complete a 2,000-kilometer bike path, including 900 kilometers around the mountains and 1,200 kilometers along the coast. Taiwan is capable of hosting a round-the-island bicycle race on the scale of the "Tour de France."
