Michelin bicycle tires officially enter the mainland, impacting the market.

Michelin is the world's leading tire company, headquartered in France. In 1891, Michelin manufactured the world's first detachable inflatable tire, leading the world from solid tires into the era of inflatable tires. Everyone is likely very familiar with Michelin's car tires. In 2012, Michelin's bicycle tires will officially enter the Chinese market for the first time, targeting the mid to high-end bicycle tire market.

Michelin is the world's leading tire company, headquartered in France. In 1891, Michelin manufactured the world's first detachable inflatable tire, leading the world from solid tires into the era of inflatable tires. Everyone is probably very familiar with Michelin's car tires. In 2012, Michelin's bicycle tires will officially enter the Chinese market for the first time, targeting the mid to high-end bicycle tire market.

Michelin has long established a bicycle tire market in many countries around the world. Now, coinciding with the 120th anniversary of Michelin, its bicycle tires will officially enter mainland China, fully represented by Guangzhou Jingtian Trading Co., Ltd.

"In fact, Michelin tires are not as expensive as imagined"

Due to the high quality of Michelin tires in the car tire market, the prices are relatively high, which easily leaves people with the impression that "Michelin tires are very expensive." With Michelin bicycle tires entering China, everyone must be very concerned about the price of Michelin tires.

Zheng Zhihao, the sales manager of Michelin's bicycle tires in Asia, stated at the product description meeting of Guangzhou Jingtian Trading Co., Ltd. that Michelin bicycle tires are positioned in the mid to high-end bicycle tire market. The prices of these tires will be higher than those of mid to low-end bicycle tires, but the relatively high price corresponds to quality, durability, and riding experience. Considering the lifespan and riding comfort, Michelin tires are actually not expensive, and they may even be more valuable than some mid to low-end bicycle tires.

As people become more aware of the relationship between product quality and price for bicycles, many can actually accept mid to high-end bicycle products. Michelin will mainly promote mountain bike tires in the Chinese market, which are roughly divided into products priced around 100 yuan, 200 to 250 yuan, and professional-level products above 500 yuan, while urban leisure bike tires will have even lower prices.

Michelin will do its best to ensure supply channels.

As Michelin bicycle tires enter the mainland for the first time, everyone will certainly be very concerned about the issue of counterfeit tires, as well as the product series and model issues.

First, regarding the issue of counterfeit goods, Michelin's bicycle tire manager in Asia, Mr. Zheng, stated that Michelin will strictly control counterfeit goods by attempting to adjust the prices of OEM factory products and minimizing the use of OEM factories to manufacture new tires, thus controlling counterfeit goods from the source. For example, Michelin's PRO 4 series road bike tires are not produced in OEM factories at all. Michelin will also control the dealer channels to protect the interests of consumers and dealers.

Regarding counterfeit bicycle tires, Mr. Zheng also reminded cyclists: "Bicycle tires are produced and sold based on regional temperature and humidity characteristics, and counterfeit goods often have more issues due to coming from different regions." He also reminded dealers, "Due to the many issues with counterfeit goods, according to warranty service terms, dealing with counterfeit goods may lead to more losses due to after-sales issues."

Today, 29-inch bicycles are popular worldwide, and in 2012, major bicycle manufacturers will also launch 29-inch bicycles in mainland China, with global demand for 29-inch bicycle tires being very tight. According to Mr. Zheng, "Michelin will launch tires above 2.0 for 29-inch tires, with an extreme size of 2.35. Currently, Michelin's 29-inch bicycle tires are also in a state of supply not meeting demand, and Michelin plans to launch 2.35 tires in 2013.
